Female Bodybuilding.

Just over a year ago, I decided I would set a new challenge for myself and enter a bodybuilding competition. I wanted to see how versatile I am as an athlete in crossing over sports, having been a competitive track and field athlete for many years. I did not know how long it would take me to achieve my goal, or where to start for that matter, so I embarked on finding a bodybuilding and posing coach who is very knowledgeable and experienced in the sport. With the guidance of Julia Hubbard, an athlete, British Champion and pro bodybuilder, I have accomplished something that I thought would take me years to do. I won my very first bodybuilding competition at the NPA Bodybuilding Championships held on the 28th May at The Paramount Theatre, Penistone, Yorkshire. Amongst a line up of very talented athletes, not only did I win the Trained Figure division for women 40 and over, but I also won the Women’s Overall trophy, Best Presentation/Routine and the cash prize. Fast forward seven days later, on Sunday 5th June, I repeated my success and won the female open bodybuilding division and in the same competition later came in third in the female open physique division, plus an invite to the British finals. I am extremely overwhelmed and encouraged by the support from family and friends, not to mention the Squat2Fit mums, but most of all my coach. Julia, you are one in a million and I am excited about our journey together in this sport.
