If You Believe, You Will Achieve

As a personal trainer, I’ve had the privilege of working with many clients over the years, to achieve their fitness goals. These photos are just a few success stories. All with varying backgrounds, fitness levels, objectives and goals. But the one thing they all have in common, is to be a fitter and heathier version of themselves. For some, this can be a challenge and serve as a big step in their current lifestyle, but most importantly, they have acknowledged the fact that a change needed to happen.

The mind is a powerful thing. When we are ready to make a change in our lifestyle and goals, only then will change happen. Far often we convince ourselves that we have weight, nutrition and fitness problems, when in reality, our problems are personal. Habits, mindset, beliefs, identities & fears, reflect on our weight, bodies, relationships, eating behaviours, exercise regimes, inconsistency and life in general. Acceptance is the first step in making a change. Understanding that in order for you to progress, you have to start to do things differently. Starting is the next step towards your goals. When you make that first step in achieving your goals, with consistency and discipline, results start to show. You will develop self belief, feel more confident and gradually improve your lifestyle.

It is important to take things slowly when making lifestyle changes. Journal your thoughts, goals and targets. With each progress you make, reward yourself. Trying to make drastic and unrealistic changes for a short term goal only ends in disappointment. As with any lifestyle change, health and fitness is a journey for life. There may be obstacles along the way, but it is important that you remain focused on your goals. For example, if your goal is to lose 6 kilos in a year, then write down the steps you must do to achieve this. If you need help with this, talk to your personal trainer, nutritionist or health professional. Start to confront and let go of those things that are hindering your success and step by step stick to your plan.  It is said that it takes 30 days to form a habit. However, once you’ve established this, these habits form your lifestyle and the change you wish to see. Continue to work on yourself and the rest will follow.
